The Alpha School of Music (ASOM) music programme has been preparing students for the commercial music and entertainment industry for over 100 years. With the iconic ska anthem, “Eastern Standard Time” on Side A (a Studio One anthem by the Skatalites) and the original Jamaican mento, “Rukumbine”, on Side B, (given a classic 1960s arrangement by Alpha band director Peter Ashbourne) the Singles Sessions V1 is a modern interpretation of Jamaican popular music just as it was about to take off.

"Alpha has been called a "dream factory" (NPR)

for "legendary musicians" (Jamaica Gleaner) who

"helped release the spirit of one of the most musical

islands in the world" (Telegraph/UK).
